Nowadays, with more and more people going out to do business in Wenling, some Wenling people can be seen selling stuffed cakes around the markets in many places, and the business is very good!
Origin conjecture (1): According to the custom in the south of Wenling, there is a custom of making "stuffing cakes" in the countryside on October 15th of the lunar calendar, which is the ancient "Xiayuan Festival", and Wenling people call it "October 30th". In ancient times, there was a custom of vegetarian fasting on the next Yuan Festival: "October is the next Yuan Festival, when the customs spread to the Shuigong to help the earth, and there were also people who fasted and recited scriptures", which gradually disappeared after the Republic of China. Although only a few families in Wenling now make "stuffing cakes" on this day, "stuffing cakes" are closely related to the next Lantern Festival. The local rural people seldom say what is the reason for eating stuffed cakes in October and 30, and when it started, the younger generation knows very little. After the reform and opening up, it has gradually become the most popular breakfast in Wenling.
Also on the Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, Wenling people call it "July and a half". Wenling people also have a special cake "dry cake embryo" which is also used for festivals, and now it has become a breakfast for Wenling people.
