Yunnan:
Yunnan Province, called Dian for short, is located in the southwest border of People's Republic of China (PRC). The provincial capital is Kunming. The total area is 394,000 square kilometers, accounting for 4. 1 1% of the national area, ranking eighth among provincial administrative regions in China. The total population is 44.504 million (in 2005), accounting for 3.36% of the national population, ranking as 12, with a birth rate of 14.72‰ and a mortality rate of 6.75‰. Among them, the urban population 13 129000 and the rural population1375000. It borders Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guizhou Province in the east, faces Sichuan Province across the river with Jinsha River in the north, is connected with Xizang Autonomous Region in the northwest corner, is closely connected with Myanmar in the west, and borders Laos and Vietnam in the south and southeast respectively, with a total length of 406 1km. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the south of this province. Among them, Old Town of Lijiang is one of the largest and oldest ancient cities in Yunnan.
Guizhou:
Guizhou Province, referred to as "Guizhou" and "Guangxi" for short, is an inland mountainous province with beautiful mountains and rivers, pleasant climate, rich resources and many ethnic groups. Guizhou is located in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, between east longitude103 36' ~109 35' and north latitude 24 37' ~ 2913'. It borders Hunan in the east, Guangxi in the south, Yunnan in the west and Sichuan and Chongqing in the north, with a distance of about 595 kilometers from east to west. The total land area of the province is 176 167 square kilometers, accounting for 1.8% of the national total area.
