Sinharaja Forest Reserve is one of the national parks in Sri Lanka. It has been designated as a biosphere reserve and a world heritage by UNESCO. Located in the southwest of Sri Lanka, it is the only primitive tropical rain forest in Sri Lanka. More than 60% of the trees here are endemic to the local area, and many of them are rare. There are also many local wild animals in the reserve, most of which are birds. The reserve is also home to more than 50% mammals and butterflies in Sri Lanka, and it is also a place where various insects, reptiles and rare amphibians thrive.
