Huang Yanpei's former residence was built by Shen Shuyong, the cabinet minister in the ninth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (1859), formerly known as "Inner Stone Dike", also known as Shenjia Courtyard. The "Inner Stone Dike" was originally a two-story brick-wood house with three houses and two houses, which was rich in the characteristics of Jiangnan houses in Qing Dynasty. Soong Ching Ling, honorary chairman of China, Huang, a democracy fighter, and famous musicians were all born here, and Hu Shi, a cultural celebrity, once lived here. At the entrance of the former residence, there is a classical and exquisite instrument door with cornices. On the front, there is a brick carving of "Phoenix Playing Peony", with the words "Huatang Reflecting the Sun" in the middle, and on the back, there is the words "Dehou Chunqiu", with a dragon stone carving at the lower end. The bronze statue of Huang Yanpei is located in front of the main building, with a plaque inscribed by Comrade Chen Yun.
