The Bull Running Festival is a traditional festival of Miao and Dong people in China, which is held on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month every year. April 8th is the "Bull Run Festival". Miao nationality is an ancient farming nation, and has formed a special feeling for cattle in the long-term farming life. Therefore, the Miao people's respect, love and worship for cattle are all manifested through bullfighting. On the day of the bullfight, the owner will feed the cow with glutinous rice, and some owners will feed the cow with some wine to cheer the cow up. The bullfighting activities of Miao people are basically held at every gathering festival, and there will be a specific bullfighting festival after the autumn harvest every year.

The Miao people love bullfighting and fight with buffalo, not for fun, but to show their respect, love and worship of cattle through bullfighting. Dong people like bullfighting, mainly in spring and autumn. Before the festival, they will make an appointment with their opponents. If one side loses in the bullfight, all their colorful flags will be taken away by the other girl. They need to redeem them through the flag redemption ceremony and singing. The winning "Cow King" will be covered with red cloth to show congratulations.
