How to raise grass turtles

About choice

If you plan to buy a turtle but haven't bought it yet, there will be benefits to teach you to choose a healthy and lively turtle.

1. Shells, limbs, nails, etc. The tortoise is in good health, its skin and shell are not festered, its eyes rotate flexibly and there is no mucus secretion in its mouth.

2. Observe the state of the tortoise, which is in good condition. Great strength, pulling the tortoise's limbs by hand feels a strong retraction; You don't have to mop the floor when you walk, and the turtle can return to its original state and be more lively. The most important thing is to choose those who are lively and active and not afraid of life. )

Finally, when it is put into water, it can sink quickly. If it doesn't swim, it is floating, and this turtle is sick.

About disinfection

The turtle you just bought can be disinfected.

Disinfect with five thousandths of potassium permanganate and only look at reddish water for 30 minutes. While disinfecting the soft-shelled turtle, it also disinfected the breeding environment.

About environment

1, activity space, water and land.

It is best to choose square or rectangular tanks, put some big stones on the land and put them higher. Don't cross the stone, at least one third of the land can be used, so that the turtle can go ashore to rest.

Try to provide turtles with more room for activities. Generally, a stone is used as a terrace for turtles to climb out of the water and bask in the sun.

2. Keep the water clean, the turtle will shit in the water.

Conditionally put a 5-watt built-in filter in the water tank, and the water will be clear to the end if it is not changed for a long time. If there are no conditions, it is necessary to change the water frequently to keep the water clean.

Water level: The water level should be at least shallow, and it can be higher in summer.

Water quality: the cultivated water must be exposed to the sun for 2 days before it can be used. Clean up stagnant water in time after defecation.

About eating

1, adaptation period

Don't eat in your new home. Turtles have a process of getting familiar with the environment. About three days, when the temperature is right, the food will be served naturally.

2. the temperature of eating.

The best temperature for small turtles to eat is 26℃, and they don't eat much around 15℃.

It doesn't matter if the temperature is not enough. If possible, it can be heated to above 2626℃ and below 30℃, and the turtle will eat it.

3. food

Generally speaking, you can give some nematodes or raw small fish and shrimp lean meat. Rice, bean dregs, cooked eggs, cooked noodles, etc. Can be used. Turtle food can be fed less, not salty, or cooked pork or raw oil.

4. Food intake

The feeding amount should not exceed the size of the turtle's head. The soft-shelled turtle can be fed 1 time in 1 day and 1 time in 3-5 days.

About the reason for not eating.

The tortoise has become familiar with the environment and the temperature has gone up. Doesn't the tortoise eat? What should we do?

First, is the tortoise hungry?

If the tortoise is hungry, it will bury its head in the water to find something to eat, or it will be very active when it sees someone coming, thinking that someone is feeding it.

If you are not hungry, the tortoise won't eat. After it has been active for a while, it will defecate and eat.

Second, the tortoise is ill?

Maybe you have a bad stomach, a cold and so on.

I won't elaborate if I'm sick. You need to consult a professional and prescribe the right medicine according to the symptoms of soft-shelled turtle.

1, judgment of turtle health

Answer: There is no obvious scar on skin tissue and carapace, and there is no secretion in eyes.

B: Poke the turtle's limbs with your little hand to see if it retracts. Whether the limbs are pulled back hard (this is to identify the physical condition of the turtle)

C: Open your mouth and breathe. The nose is obviously liquid. This is a harbinger of colds and pneumonia.

D: Turtles float on the water. Unwilling to go into the water. Close your eyes and the initial diagnosis is pneumonia.

E: Look at the armpits of the limbs. Whether there are obvious parasites. Or skin tissue erosion.

F: Watch the tortoise swim in the water. Whether there is tilt. Or unstable (1: or eating too much. 2. Either you are physically exhausted. 3 respiratory diseases. )

G: Try to be active, if the shop is a jar. You can point a small glass. See if the tortoise reacts (has the urge to eat).

2. Environment

Besides turtles and semi-water turtles, other turtles such as Brazilian turtles, grass turtles, pearl turtle, crocodile turtles, maps and other water turtles must be kept in the water!

The water level and volume should be sufficient, and the feeding container can at least make it swim. Round containers are not suitable for keeping turtles. Even if you can make do, at least go to the supermarket to buy a rectangular non-toxic plastic box, which is much better than this small cylinder.

The water level depends on the size of the turtle, and generally does not exceed twice the height of its shell. Buy a floating platform or floating island, which is a necessary appliance in the turtle tank ~! So it can climb ashore to rest by itself. It won't be soaked in water all the time. If you want to come up, you can go ashore to dry your back without artificial production.

Turtles need sunshine, so it is recommended to put them on the balcony or in a room facing south. But if there are babies or pregnant women at home, it is best not to keep turtles, which are easy to carry some germs.

In summer, you should cover yourself properly and don't get too strong sun. Pay attention to prevent algae from growing in the water tank. You can buy algaecides, which are usually sold in aquarium stores.

The bottom of the tank can be covered with pebbles or pebbles. But if it is paved, it will be very troublesome to change the water. Novices suggest using bare cans, but nothing is paved. Do not put aquatic plants in the water.

3. Water for raising turtles

To use tap water that has been dried for more than 2 days (for chlorine removal), it is best to prepare 2 plastic buckets to dry, which can meet the needs of water change.

It is recommended to change the water every two to three days. Only a part of the water needs to be changed at a time, and the water in the whole tank does not need to be changed unless the water and the periphery of the tank are dirty. When partially changing water, use a plastic small tube to suck out the dirty water at the bottom by siphon principle, and then add fresh water with the same capacity (that is, tap water that has been dried for 2 days) into the tank.

In this way, the turtle that changes water will not have white eye disease or rotten nails. If it's too much trouble, you can use a strainer, which is the kind used by fish farmers. There are flowers and birds in the market, so it's easy to find. The filter can stabilize the water quality and create a good environment when used with nitrifying bacteria. Change more water in summer.

4. About feeding

The tortoise is eating in the water. When feeding, put the feed directly into the water. Turtles usually feed on pork, beef, shrimp, small fish and livers of poultry and fish. These foods should be chopped or shredded, but these animal feeds are very easy to pollute the water.

Novices suggest feeding some fresh water, shrimp, dried fish and turtle food, all of which are good. More worry-free, and it is not easy to pollute the water. The temperature is high in summer, and the turtle has a fast metabolism, so it can be fed once a day. However, it is generally recommended to feed turtles once every two or three days. It is no problem to feed the tortoise once a few days. As long as the water supply is sufficient, they can eat nothing for half a month. The amount of turtles fed each time is usually enough for the size of their heads.

Like cooked food, cooked meat, ham sausage, you must not eat it indiscriminately ~! Be sure to pay attention to some necessary knowledge ~!

Don't feed the tortoise too salty food, such as salted shrimp, dried fish sausage and so on ~! After sodium chloride (salt) is ingested, it will cause edema and renal function damage. Turtle should definitely avoid salt intake ~! It's a little salty ~!

Similarly, the cooked food we usually eat, such as fried meat, rice and steamed bread, is not suitable for turtles.

5. About the temperature of raising turtles

The water temperature of 25-28 degrees is the most suitable, and it feels neither too cold nor too hot, just like the water temperature when drinking boiled water in summer. The water temperature at this temperature is very suitable for turtles' daily activities and eating.

It is forbidden to feed and bathe the little turtle with warm water, hot water or very cold water, which will cause pneumonia, stress reaction and other diseases. Don't put the tortoise in the air-conditioned room in summer, just put it on the balcony, because the temperature difference will kill the tortoise.

When the temperature dropped below 13℃ from June to May of the following year, turtles began to hibernate until the temperature rose to 18℃. Hibernating turtles can't eat or move, but sleep.

The easiest way to hibernate is to move the tortoise to a dark and quiet place indoors, hibernate in shallow water (the water has just passed through the shell) and change the water once a month. Try not to disturb the tortoise except changing the water. Pay attention to the temperature can not be lower than 6 degrees, otherwise it will endanger the life of the tortoise.

However, it is recommended to use heating rods in winter because of the high mortality rate of natural hibernation. The heating rod is the kind of tropical fish, and the temperature is set at about 30 degrees. Turn off the heating rod when it is not used, so there will be no constant temperature effect. Just leave the power on. When it reaches the temperature, it will automatically turn off the power, and when it reaches the specified temperature, it will automatically start to turn on the power for heating. Must be completely immersed in water, in the deep water area, so as to ensure the temperature control and safe use of the heating rod.

Lycium barbarum: Generally speaking, Lycium barbarum should not be eaten with too many warm tea supplements such as longan, red ginseng and jujube.

Walnuts: Walnuts can't be eaten with pheasants, and patients with pneumonia and bronchiectasis are not easy to eat.

Walnut should not be eaten with wine. According to the record of Kaibao Materia Medica, "Eating walnuts makes people hemoptysis". It may be because walnuts are hot, eating too much produces phlegm fire, and white wine is also sweet and spicy, so eating together is easy to cause blood heat. Especially people with chronic hemoptysis should avoid eating. For example, patients with bronchiectasis and tuberculosis will have hemoptysis if they drink white wine, but they will also get sick if they don't eat it with walnuts.

Method 2 of braised turtle
