As far as printing technology is concerned, the woodcuts in the Bookstore are mostly made of birch that has just fallen leaves after autumn, dried with slow fire, soaked in sheep dung for a winter, boiled, dried and planed to make it difficult to crack before carving. Before engraving, cut the paper according to the size of the board, write the engraved Tibetan on the paper, and then stick it on the board. In order to expose the handwriting, when pasting, if you write with Tibetan paper, you can soak it with a wet cloth; If you use other paper, you need to oil it. In the process of carving, the carved parts can be soaked with the progress of carving, which can not only make the words clear, but also make the carved parts soft. Not easy to damage. When carving, all the books are horizontal and vertical, and grow into a square strip with many horizontal characters and large vertical distance, which is clear, comfortable and easy to read. After carving, soak the book in ghee for a day, then dry it, and then brush it with a kind of grass-roots boiling water called "Suba". This kind of book edition is characterized by enduring immortality, not being damaged by frequent printing, and dazzling. When printing, the exquisite classic paper with strong toughness made of the root bark of "poisonous weeds" will not be invaded by hundreds of insects and will not be bad for a long time.
As far as the measurement specifications of scriptures are concerned, the specifications of wood carving discs are all based on the measurement of Buddhist scriptures. The length of each long printing plate is 1 10 cm, the width is more than 70 cm, and the thickness is about 3 cm. Each short version is more than 70cm long,10cm wide and about 3cm thick. In particular, when carving Buddha statues and painting on the front, we must strictly follow the procedures and rituals stipulated in the classic sculpture painting, such as the Sutra of Image Measurement, the Sutra of Buddha Measurement and the Sutra of Painting Measurement, which provides the sculptor with the basic proportion of the human body when creating Buddha statues, and also embodies the sculpture of Tibetan Buddhism sculpture painting.
