Everyone should be very clear about how to use PQ partition software to operate in Windows. Improper operation may cause partition loss and data loss. Therefore, when operating, you must be very clear about what you are doing and need skilled operation skills to operate. Don't use it with a novel mentality, try to play. Otherwise, we won't know what he can do until the data is lost and the disk is lost, and it will be too late. Therefore, everyone should play slowly and steadily, and don't play games. That's all nonsense!

First, adjust the partition capacity:

Due to the insufficient consideration of the original partition, new requirements appear in the application or the need to install a new operating system, the capacity of a partition is often insufficient, especially when the C disk is often troubled by the lack of remaining space, then PartitionMagic can show its talents.

1. Select the hard disk and partition running PartitionMagic, and select "Adjust the capacity of 1 partition" in the taskbar on the left side of the software window (Figure 1). The "Adjust Partition Capacity Wizard" will pop up, and the bare metal "Next" will first select the hard disk to adjust the partition, and then enter the next step to select the partition to adjust the shape (Figure 2). 2. Resize the partition. In the next dialog box (Figure 3), the current hard disk capacity and the minimum and maximum allowable capacity will be displayed. You can enter the changed partition size in the number box of "New partition capacity". Note that the maximum value cannot exceed the maximum capacity allowed in the above tips. Then I enter the 1 dialog box to select which 1 partition should be reduced to supplement the adjusted partition. Finally, you need to explicitly confirm the changes made to the partition. In the dialog box (Figure 4), the comparison before and after adjustment will be displayed. After verification, you can click the "Finish" button to return to the main interface. 3. The above operations are only the 1 plan for partition adjustment. If you want it to work, you should select the "Apply" button at the bottom of the left column (Figure 5). Second, merge and split partitions: the early hard disk partition was relatively small, which can no longer meet the current application requirements, but PartitionMagic can be used to merge two smaller partitions into 1 large partition. In the main interface of PartitionMagic, select the partition to be merged, then right-click the naked mouse, and select the "Merge" command in the pop-up shortcut menu to open the "Merge Adjacent Partitions" dialog box (Figure 7). First, select the partition to be merged in the "Merge Options" column, and then specify the folder name for storing the merged partition data in "Folder Name" (if two partitions are merged into 1 partition, all contents of the merged 1 partition will be stored in the specified folder of another 1 partition). Finally, the bare metal is "ok". Solving is similar to merging. First, select the solution partition, right-click the naked mouse, and then select the Solution command in the pop-up shortcut menu to open the Solution Partition dialog box (Figure 8). First set the volume label and drive letter of the new partition on the data tab, and then move the folder to be stored in the new partition. You can double-click the folder on the left to put it into the new partition, and finally set the capacity of the new partition in the Capacity tab. Click "OK" button after bare metal is finished. Third, the conversion mode: there are various types of partition file systems, such as FAT 16, FAT32, NTFS, etc. We can use PartitionMagic to convert the actual partition mode. Right-click the drive letter of the partition to be converted to bare metal, and then select the "Convert" command to open the "Convert Partition" dialog box (Figure 9), where you can select the pattern to be converted to bare metal. If you use Windows 98 or something, you can only convert FAT 16 into FAT32, but for Windows NT/2000/XP system, you can realize the conversion between FAT32 and NTFS. The above are the most commonly used applications of PartitionMagic. In addition, PartitionMagic can also be used to copy partitions and mode partitions, and the operation method is basically the same. The typical advantage of keeping the power supply unchanged is to partition, merge and partition the hard disk, and change the partition mode without damaging the hard disk data. These operations are undoubtedly related to the transportation of a large amount of data between hard disk partitions. The transfer stations are physical memory (ROM part) and virtual memory, but both physical memory (ROM part) and virtual memory have the inherent fatal weakness of 1: once the power is cut off, the stored data will disappear completely, so the power supply must be kept unchanged when running PM. There are two ways to keep the power supply unchanged. On the one hand, the best solution is to prepare an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). On the other hand, we should pay attention to "power management" of the system. Using the "Power Management" low-energy function is beneficial to protect the hard disk and monitor. However, if PM is allowed to operate the hard disk, and the computer operating system enters a dormant or waiting state without absorbing external instructions (tapping the keyboard or moving the mouse, etc.). ), and the hard disk is closed, the data of the hard disk is unknown. The methods to prevent unnecessary troubles caused by "power management" of the system are: from "control panel" to "power management"; In the Power Management Properties, the Power Usage Scheme is set to Always On, and all System Waiting, Closed Monitor and Closed Hard Disk are set to Never. 2. Be careful about the system mode conversion operation of hard disk partition. Using PM can realize the conversion of several file system modes conveniently and quickly, but before the conversion, it should be noted that: a.FAT partition is DOS, Windows 3. 1, Windows 95/98 can be used; FAT32 partition can be used for Windows 95OSR2, Windows 98, Windows NT5.0, and NTFS is dedicated to Windows NT series. The OS2 system uses HPFS. Higher-level operating systems are usually compatible with lower-level partition system modes, while lower-level operating systems cannot use higher-level partition system modes. B. Most programs will not be affected by the conversion from FAT 16 to FAT32 (or NTFS), but FAT32 (or NTFS) is not very well supported by some softwares that rely on pure FAT 16 (such as PCTOOLS 9.0, Norton 95, etc.). ). But once converted to FAT 16 or FAT32, all the space and files on the hard disk will be open to all users; At the same time, the special file attributes set for some files under NFTS will also disappear. 3. Be careful when merging partitions. PM can merge two adjacent partitions with the same system mode on 1 hard disk into one. This function is especially useful for partitions that have almost no free space left in two partitions and need more free space. Merging partitions takes a long time. If the two partitions are very large and there are a lot of data in the partitions, the merging operation may take several hours, and the progress is very slow, giving people the illusion of "collapse" under special circumstances. Using PM to merge two partitions must be patient. It is absolutely forbidden to shut down or restart the computer and cut off the power supply on the day of departure because you can't wait or mistakenly think that it is "dead". Once this happens, when you step into the special situation of the computer, you will find that the two partitions to be merged are labeled as "PQFLEX", and the partitions are displayed as "PqRP" file system mode (in fact, it is not the file system mode, but the file mode state that remains unchanged after PM interruption), or the partitions and the data in them are lost, and there is no way to step into the computer at all. Don't let the "automation" of PM hurt the "core" of hard disk: it should be said that it is very simple to operate hard disk with PM. As long as you step into the PM interface, just like an animation simulation, you can make the desired changes to the hard disk. PM will record your operations one by one, and then let PM change the hard disk to the state you want. This may be the highly intelligent automation that PM manufacturer PowerQuest is proud of. It should be said that this "fool-like" automation fool only passively accepts the operator's instructions, rather than operating the disk after intelligent analysis. For example, you have a 40G hard disk, which is divided into two partitions, C and D, each with 20G. In PM, partition C is given the space of 1G in D, and then 2G space is separated from D and merged into C (the result is that C is 2 1G and D is 19G). This process item is executed by PM, instead of intelligently and concisely analyzing the previous and subsequent processes and directly dividing the space of D area 1G into C area, it clumsily executes the above operations one by one: first divide C area into D area of 1G, and then divide the space of 2G from D area to C area. Let the hard disk turn meaningless for a long time, and the data will move back and forth in different areas. In order not to "harm" your hard disk "idly", don't rely too much on the automation of PM, fully plan the desired final hard disk state results before operation, and remove unnecessary operating procedures. Use the simplest steps to achieve the goal. Once there is unnecessary repetition in the operation, it is best to cancel the previous instruction and start again. 6. Be cautious about the compatibility of PM with other applications: PM can coexist peacefully with most applications. But software for individual things, such as antivirus software and disk things, is not so friendly. 1. Most operations of anti-virus software PM need to change hard disk data and partition table. These changes are usually regarded by anti-virus software as a signal that a potential virus attacks a computer system. Stop these operations, resulting in conflicts between applications. Before using PM, it is best to thoroughly check the hard disk and floppy disk with anti-virus software, turn off the anti-virus software function when it is confirmed that there is no virus, and then run PM. 2. Norton Disk Doctor (NDD for short) NDD is a 1 powerful disk, which can diagnose and repair various problems that need to be answered by others in magnetic measurement. Using PM to adjust the partition space incorrectly will lead to the error prompt of NDD. If NDD detects 1 extended partitions at the root of the disk, it means that "1 extended partitions have invalid parameters and cannot be used ...". At this time, NDD should be closed, and the capacity of this thinking law partition should be appropriately increased by using PM, so that there must be available space at its tail. In addition, after PM deletes, moves or zooms partitions, NDD may think that you accidentally deleted 1 partitions and kindly remind you whether to restore the partitions. Of course, you can't choose recovery. Let NDD re-identify this partition, so that there will be no boring "choose recovery" prompts in the future. 3. Disk compression utility hopes that PM can coexist peacefully with disk compression programs such as DriveSpace, and the more reliable method is to increase the free space reserved by compressed partitions. In addition, it should be noted that it is best not to use PQMagic when there is important data on the hard disk, otherwise it may cause losses. Even if you really want to use it, please make a backup in advance. If there are questions that need to be answered by others, please don't panic, and you can't re-partition in a rage, causing irreparable losses.
