At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, eight famous restaurants in Beijing were old brands, namely Zhengyang Building, Taifeng Building, Xinfeng Building, Wande Building, Yuebin Building, Qingyun Building, Dongxing Building and Huiyuan Building.

Zhengyang Building, opened in the 23rd year of Qing Daoguang (1843). At first, the signboard of Zhengyang Building was put up by a Shandong native named Sun on the east side of Qianmen Nankou Road. Its business features are Shandong cuisine, Beijing roast mutton, Bohai autumn crab and JD.COM Shaoguo wine.

By the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Zhengyang Building had developed into a well-known high-end restaurant in Beijing. The most distinctive feature is that instant-boiled mutton has spread all over Beijing with its selected materials, delicious soup, exquisite knife work, ready-to-eat cooking and fresh and delicious taste.

Taifeng Building was founded in the early years of Qing Daoguang by people surnamed Sun in Dashilan Coal Market Street outside Qianmen. Taifeng Building is spacious and bright, with more than 100 rooms and more than 60 tables at the same time, which was the largest in the south of Beijing at that time. Taifenglou manages Shandong cuisine. Famous dishes include shark's fin in casserole, stewed mullet eggs, fried seafood with onion, fried fish, fried chicken in pot and so on. One of the most popular is the "Yipin Pot".

Xinfeng Building was opened in the fourth year of the Republic of China (19 15) at the intersection of Xiangfang Bridge. Operating characteristics are purple Chinese cabbage, fried tripe, sesame glutinous rice balls, vegetarian noodles and so on. 1949 went out of business, 1984 resumed its old name, and No.35, the south exit of Baiguang Road, reopened, still maintaining its Shandong flavor. The restaurant specially invited the former chef of Dongxinglou, and inherited the famous specialties in the past: stewed turtle eggs, fried diced chicken liver, fried fish slices, steamed duck liver with sugar, braised prawns in oil and so on. , pioneered the roast duck slices.

Wande Building, located in the jewelry market outside Qianmen, was opened in Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty. There are special dishes, such as stuffed meat, cook the meat, soy sauce, and special noodles, such as carrion noodles.

Built in the early years of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, it was founded by Shandong Rentian in Dashilan outside Qianmen. Special dishes include braised fish head, whole duck with immortals and so on, and flavor noodles include amber lotus seeds and leek baskets.

Qingyun Building was built in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty, located on the north bank of Shichahai in Xie Jie, Dai Yan. Mainly based on authentic Shandong characteristics, cakes are good for cakes and fried Spring Festival.

Huiyuan Building was opened in Chaoshou Hutong outside Qianmen during Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. Its own dishes, such as Sandan and tofu soup, are very popular with customers.

Dongxing Building was opened in the 28th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (1902), and is located in the north of Dong 'anmen Street. Dongxing Old House, formerly known as Dongxing Mansion, is a quadrangle with two yards and three bungalows. Known as the "Eight Buildings".

It is said that when Dongxing Building opened, it invited a chef who used to work in the imperial dining hall of Qing Palace. 1937, Dongxing Building built a building in the south of Dong 'anmen Street Road, with gorgeous decoration and exquisite tableware. Ivory chopsticks, silver spoons and exquisite porcelain tableware are all engraved with dragon patterns, making it a high-class restaurant in Beijing.

Dongxinglou manages Shandong Jiaodong-style dishes, which are characterized by clear, vegetarian, fresh, tender, oily but not greasy, and full of color, flavor and taste. Special dishes include grilled shark's fin, crisp oil, clear soup of wild vegetables, diced chicken with sauce and so on.

Dongxing Building 1944 was closed, and the old brand was not restored until 1983. It reopened at No.47 Dongzhimennei Street, still featuring Jiaodong cuisine. Signature dishes include prawns with oil smoke, fish fillets with soy sauce, leek baskets, shrimp-roasted winter bamboo shoots, crispy fried winter bamboo shoots, ham-wrapped winter bamboo shoots, Dongxing Yipin Lion's Head and so on. , also operating hanging furnace roast duck.

There are two theories about the famous "Eight Buildings" in Beijing in the past. The other is Zhengyang Building, Taifeng Building, Xinfeng Building and Dongxing Building, as well as Zhimei Building and Hongxing Building in Caishikou, Anfu Building in Wangfujing and Chunhua Building in Heping Gate, which deal in Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine.
