Xu Feng, whose real name is Yan Rui, was born in Yiyang, Mingjiang (now Shitang, Yiyang County, Jiangxi Province). He lived in the second half of14th century to the first half of15th century, and was a famous acupuncturist in Ming dynasty.
In the second year (AD 1400), Xu Feng began to learn acupuncture from Ni and Peng. Later, I visited famous doctors and searched extensively. Combined with my clinical experience of nearly 40 years, I compiled a Complete Collection of Acupuncture and Moxibustion about A.D. 1439. Acupuncture and Moxibustion Daquan, also known as Acupuncture Essentials and Acupuncture Daquan, mainly edits the predecessors' exposition on acupuncture theory and clinic, and also refers to Xu Feng's own exposition on acupuncture. The book is rich, concise and suitable for clinical practice. The book is characterized by a collection of most songs. These songs are all about the basic theory of acupuncture and the summary of acupuncture treatment experience. They are concise, easy to understand and recite, and easy to remember and use.
Xu Feng highly praised the theory of acupoint selection on time, and made necessary explanations, supplements and developments on it, which is another great contribution of Xu, making it possible for later generations to explore the method of acupoint selection on time. The name "Meridian Liu Zhu" was explained in detail and clearly for the first time in Acupuncture and Moxibustion Daquan. The contents described in it, such as "Liu Zhu needling of meridians", "Eight methods of Guiling" and "Eight methods of soaring", can all be used as guidelines for timely acupoint selection and become the laws to be followed in clinical use in future generations. Nowadays, most people who discuss the timely acupoint selection method still take acupuncture and moxibustion as the main reference. It can be seen that Xu Feng is one of the important figures who inherited and developed acupuncture in the early Ming Dynasty and an outstanding acupuncturist in the Ming Dynasty. He kept a large number of important acupuncture literature in The Complete Book of Acupuncture, and paid attention to the study of acupuncture and acupoint selection on time. Most of his works appeared in the form of songs, which had a certain influence on the continuous emergence of acupuncture songs in Ming and Qing Dynasties and provided a convenient learning way for later learners.
It's six volumes. Volume one and volume two, acupuncture songs. Volume three, the whole body acupoints the song dynasty. The fourth volume, Dou Shi's eight methods. Volume five, the golden needle endows the meridian Liu Zhu. Volume six, moxibustion, etc. The content of this book is mainly about the introduction of acupuncture literature in past dynasties, with illustrations, and it is a comprehensive acupuncture work. As far as the contents selected in this book are concerned, the author has taken great pains, mainly in selecting a large number of acupuncture songs. Because ode itself is the sublimation of language and calendar.
In acupuncture literature, there are countless songs about acupuncture, which have devoted the efforts of acupuncturists. The book not only takes care of all aspects of acupuncture content, but also tries to select short and pithy songs, such as Song of Four Acupoints, Song of Eleven Acupoints of Thousand Women, Song of Meridian and Qi and Blood, etc. Although it is a popular ballad, only the shorter ones such as Xi Hongfu and Lingguang Fu are selected, while the longer ones such as Bai Zhengfu and Yulong Song are not selected, which is truly comprehensive and concise. Moxibustion after the book is mostly a famous moxibustion method in past dynasties, which is worth studying. Therefore, this book can be called a very practical and concise reference book on acupuncture and its clinical application. Xu Feng, whose name is Tingrui, is unknown. The content of this book is basically the same as the Secret Recipe of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Changshan Yang Jingzhai, but the order of the articles and the attached drawings are slightly different, so you can refer to each other. Note: Yang Jizhou's masterpiece of acupuncture and moxibustion in Ming Dynasty is also called The Complete Collection of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, which is easily confused here.
