1. Northern District. It mainly includes Heilongjiang, Jilin and part of Inner Mongolia. This area is located in northern my country with higher latitude. The annual average temperature is generally below 6℃, the average temperature in the coldest month is often below -16℃, and the absolute minimum temperature is below -30℃. The low temperatures in winter are long and the growing season is short. Therefore, at present, only small apples and newly cultivated small and medium-sized apples are suitable for cultivation. The area is not large and the yield is not large.
2. Areas along the Great Wall. It mainly includes northwest Liaoning, Zhangjiakou along the Great Wall, northern Shanxi, northern Shaanxi, north of Yinchuan in Ningxia and the mountainous areas south of the Great Wall. Its main characteristics are low temperature and little rain, the annual average temperature is 8-9℃, the average temperature of the coldest month is -14℃, and the absolute minimum temperature is ≥-30℃. The soil is mainly zestic soil, light chestnut soil and brown soil, which is alkaline and not suitable for apple growth. The advantage is that it has a high altitude (700-2000 meters), sufficient sunlight, and cool and dry summers. At present, early and medium-maturing varieties such as Jinshuai, Yuanshuai, and Guoguang are mainly cultivated, as well as some late-maturing varieties with strong cold resistance. They have rich coloring, high sugar content, high hardness, and are extremely resistant to storage. However, due to severe frost in some areas, the yield may be low and unstable. Low temperatures, drought, and strong winds in winter and spring often lead to stripping in saplings.
3. Bohai Bay Area. It mainly includes the Liaodong Peninsula, the Western Liaoning Corridor, the Tangshan area in Hebei and the Jiaodong Peninsula. The climate here is suitable, the rainfall is moderate, the annual average temperature is 9-12°C, the average temperature in January is above -1°C, and the average temperature from April to October during the growing season is around 20°C. The light and heat conditions are conducive to the growth and development of apples. Precipitation is moderate, and mostly falls in summer. There is less rain in autumn, sufficient light, and low night temperature, which is beneficial to the coloring and sugar accumulation of late-maturing varieties, with good quality and storage resistance. At present, this area is the old production area with the largest apple cultivation area in my country. The existing area is 2*9 million acres, accounting for a quarter of the country. The annual output is 2.22 billion kilograms, accounting for about one-half of the country. , is a commodity production base focusing on late-maturing varieties.
4. Huanghuaihai and Qinling areas. It includes the northern section of Taihang Mountain in the north, Huaihe River in the south, Lianyungang in the east, and Baoji, Shaanxi Province in the west. It mainly includes most of the North China Plain and most of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River. The planting area is about 4.702 million acres, accounting for about 43.6% of the country's total, and the annual output is 1.6 billion kilograms, accounting for about 34.1% of the country's total output. It is a newly developed apple commodity production base in my country. The ecological conditions of this area are: relatively high temperatures, the annual average temperature is between 12-15℃, the average temperature of the coldest month in winter is ≥0℃, the average temperature in the growing season is ≥20℃, the average summer temperature is 24-27℃, and the annual precipitation The length is 550-940 mm, and the annual sunshine hours are about 2,500 hours. The effective accumulated temperature is high and the growing season is long, which is conducive to early and high apple yields. However, due to its early maturity, it is not easy to store.
5. Loess Plateau. It mainly includes Jinzhong in Shanxi, the Yellow River Diversion Irrigation Area in Ningxia, the south of Yan'an in Shaanxi and Tongchuan City, the area north of Xianyang, Tianshui, Lanzhou, Qingyang, Pingliang in Gansu Province, and the Huangshui River Basin in Qinghai Province. The annual average temperature in this area is 9-12℃, the average summer temperature is 19-22℃, and the annual precipitation is 200-600 mm. The soil is mostly loess soil and loess soil, and the ecological environment is very conducive to the growth and development of apples. It is the most suitable area for apple production in my country. Especially the cool and dry climate conditions in summer are very conducive to the coloring and sugar accumulation of fruits. At present, the medium- and late-maturing varieties are planted with bright-colored fruits, crispy flesh, palatable sweet and sour taste, relatively high hardness, storage resistance, high yield, and excellent quality. For example, Guoguang has a yield of more than 5,000 kilograms per mu, and the Marshal series has a yield of more than 3,000 kilograms per mu, and has been ranked among the best in national appraisals and competitions many times. However, this area is located in a loess area with loose soil and serious soil erosion. Therefore, attention must be paid to soil and water conservation during orchard construction, and spring frost prevention in some areas is also required.
6. Ganxin production area. Including the Hexi Corridor in Gansu, the southern Junggar Basin, Tarim Basin, Turpan Basin and Hami in Xinjiang. This area is located in the inland of my country and has a typical continental climate. The average annual temperature is 11-12°C, the average summer temperature is 24-28°C, and the annual precipitation is about 50-60 mm. The climate is dry, and the soil is mostly desert calc soil. The light chestnut soil has high saline and alkali content, which is not suitable for the growth and development of apples. At present, the main planted varieties such as Yuanshuai, Jinshuai and Guoguang perform poorly, while only local varieties such as Xia Liye perform better.
7. Southwest plateau area.
It mainly includes the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau as the main body, connected to Liangshan and Xichang in Sichuan to the north, to the middle and lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River Valley and Qamdo area in Tibet to the west, and to the Baise Alpine Mountains of Guangxi to the east. The climate in this area has obvious vertical differentiation, with small annual temperature range and large daily temperature range. The annual average temperature is 8-15℃, the average temperature in January is 2-7℃, and the average temperature from June to August is only 20℃. The annual sunshine hours are about 2000 hours, and the annual precipitation is 650-1100 mm. The soil is mostly mountain yellow soil, red soil, and purple soil. Apple trees are mostly planted between 1600-2900 meters. Due to the cold summer, low night temperature, small monthly temperature difference, large daily temperature difference, and strong ultraviolet light, the mid- to late-maturing varieties have good quality, bright color, and high sugar content. However, due to the early flowering period, spring frost damage is common, resulting in low and unstable yields.
8. Jiangnan District. Mainly distributed in the south of the Yangtze River and the southeastern coast, including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, southern Anhui, northern Guangdong, Hunan, western Hubei mountainous areas and the Sichuan Basin. The climate in this area is warm and humid. The annual average temperature is between 15-17℃. The average temperature from June to August is as high as 26-28℃. The average temperature in January is 3--5℃. The annual rainfall is mostly above 1000 mm. Especially during the flowering period, it coincides with the season of mildew and rain, which greatly hinders fruit setting. During the development and maturity period of mid- to late-maturing fruits, they encounter drought and high temperatures, which reduce the acidity of the fruits and affect coloration, sunburn, etc. The ecological conditions are not suitable. Most of the apple production in this area is newly developed. The area is small, the planting is scattered, and most of them are early-maturing varieties. On hills above 600-800 meters above sea level, medium- and late-maturing varieties can also be planted.
