Lemongrass
Citronella citronella is a Gramineae, which looks like a weed and can grow to 1.5~3 meters high. It belongs to the same species as Citronella citronella. Most of the plants planted in Taiwan Province are "citronella", and the main component is citronellal, which has good mosquito control effect.

There are two common citronella varieties

1. Citronella citronella in East India can also be divided into red and white varieties. The varieties with reddish stems are the most commonly extracted essential oils (authentic lemongrass). The content of citral is high, and the obtained essential oil is amber, which turns brown after oxidation. This variety looks fine and smells good. The leaves are smooth and don't cut their hands, and the name is "flexuosus", which means "folding angle", which means that there are many folding angles near the tail end of the leaves. Native to the forests of the Degan Plateau on the west coast of India, it is now widely found in subtropical climate zones, such as Thailand and Java, Indonesia. I like the soil with both sand and clay. I like wet and rich soil, but it should be loose and breathable. The grip is not as good as vetiver grass. The content of essential oil and citral will be higher in dry season, but the climate should not be too dry. Because this variety is widely used by local people, it is rare in other places. Most of the products we buy are made in Nepal, and the quality is not bad.

2.? Lemongrass in West India, whose original place is unknown, is supposed to be Malay Peninsula, but now the main commercial production areas are in Central and South America, such as Honduras, Guatemala, Argentina, Brazil, etc. The best quality citronella in West India is produced in Madagascar. The name "citratus" means lemon smell, but in fact, citronella in East India has high citral content and good smell and quality. However, lemongrass in West India contains more myrcene, which makes it more viscous.
