Propagation and cultivation of Malan
Lettuce can be propagated by seeds or asexually, but the emergence rate of direct seeding seeds is relatively low, and the survival rate of transplanted lettuce is high.
The vast majority of mature wild seeds have vitality, and the inherent potential of seed germination is great.
The germination potential of seeds stored indoors and buried outdoors is 90% and 88% respectively, but the germination rate and germination potential are very low at room temperature.
Seeds stored at room temperature for more than 5 years, the vitality decreased.
The germination rate of seeds stored at variable temperature and buried outdoors for wintering is higher than that stored at room temperature.
The temperature range of seed germination is 15-30℃.
It will not germinate below 10℃ or above 35℃.
At constant temperature, the germination rate is generally very low. Generally, seeds are soaked in warm water or layered before sowing to improve the seed emergence rate.
The hard seed rate of Iris purpurea is high, which makes the average germination rate of Iris purpurea seeds only 10%-20% at room temperature.
Wild iris mostly reproduces asexually in the form of tillers.
