The breeding mode of pomfret is very special. They need to cooperate with mussels to give birth to offspring. The male partridge and the female partridge will accompany each other, looking for the habitat of mussels and looking for open mussels. The female partridge will insert the oviposition tube into the inlet pipe of the mussel and lay eggs in the gill cavity of the mussel.
Subsequently, the fertilized egg of pomfret moved to the gill flap of mussel and developed slowly. Sperm eggs are overturned by the water entering and leaving the mussel cavity, and sufficient dissolved oxygen is obtained, so the hatching rate is high. When the little rays grow up, they will carry the offspring of mussels with their gills until the mussels mature and fall into the water.
