Aojiu Festival The twenty-ninth day of the first lunar month is our traditional festival in Fuzhou - Aojiu Festival. Although the Aojiu Festival is not as lively as other festivals, it is very warm. Because we come to celebrate this festival with a grateful heart! "Aojiu Festival" comes from the legend of "Mulian saved his mother". In ancient times, there was a man named Mulian whose mother defended evil during her lifetime and was imprisoned in a cell in the underworld after her death. When he visited the prison, he often gave his mother food, but all was eaten by the guards who guarded her. Later, Mulian mixed the glutinous rice with peanuts, red dates, longan, brown sugar and other raw materials, sprinkled a handful of sesame seeds and gave it to his mother! When the jailer saw the dark porridge, he thought it was dirty and did not dare to eat it! Therefore, "Aojiu Porridge" was delivered to my mother. This day happened to be the twenty-ninth day of the first lunar month, and Mulian’s mother also happened to be twenty-nine years old! "Aojiu Festival" is also called "Xiaojiu Festival".
The strong aroma of Aojiu porridge wafts from every house. There are two people in this world who really deserve our thoughts all the time. That is our parents.
My mother and I went to the supermarket to buy the ingredients needed to make Aojiu porridge and then came back and made it ourselves. That warm scene still vaguely appeared in front of my eyes. Our family of three gathered together in the kitchen, doing our assigned tasks. We were not allowed to say too many words. The steaming heat was the best proof.
