The May 4th Movement was a student movement in Beijing on May 4th 19 19. The masses, citizens, businessmen and other middle and lower classes participated in demonstrations, petitions, strikes and violent opposition to the government. This is a patriotic movement of China people against imperialism and feudalism. The May 4th Movement is the beginning of China's new-democratic revolution, an epoch-making event in the history of China's revolution, and a turning point of China from the old-democratic revolution to the new-democratic revolution.
The dark rule of the northern warlords, the growth of the working class in China, the new culture movement to promote ideological emancipation, the October Revolution to bring Marxism to the people of China, the diplomatic failure of the Paris Peace Conference in Europe and the signing of the Paris Peace Treaty set off a vigorous May 4th patriotic movement. The May 4th Movement promoted the spread of Marxism in China and its combination with the workers' movement in China, thus preparing good conditions for the establishment of the China * * * production party ideologically and cadres.
It is embodied in the following four unifications:
First, the conscious and extensive unity of enlightenment and national salvation;
Second, the unity of intellectuals and working people;
Third, the unity of hard work and enterprising spirit;
The fourth is the unity of independence and selfless dedication.
