Inhabiting sandy and muddy bottom waters, it is carnivorous and feeds on small crustaceans. It is distributed in the western Pacific region, including China, the west coast of the Korean Peninsula, Japan, the coast of the Philippines, etc. It belongs to the warm-temperate fish. The type locality of this species is in the China Sea.
