Chairman Mao's poem: the scenery of the northern country, thousands of miles of ice, ten thousand miles of snow...the "northern country" refers to where?

North Country: the northern part of China.

From Mao Zedong's "Qinyuanchun - Snow", an excerpt from the original text:

The scenery of the northern country, a thousand miles of ice, ten thousand miles of snow. Looking at the Great Wall inside and outside, but the rest of the mang mang; River up and down, lost the torrent. The mountains are dancing with silver snakes, and the plains are waxing with wax elephants, so I want to try to compete with the God of Heaven. The sunny day, to see the red dress, enchanting.

Translation:

The scenery in the north is characterized by a thousand miles of frozen ice and ten thousand miles of snowflakes. Looking inside and outside the Great Wall, there is only a boundless white expanse; up and down the broad Yellow River, it has suddenly lost its monstrous momentum. The mountains seemed like silver-white pythons flying, the hills on the plateau seemed like many white elephants running, they all wanted to compare their heights with God. To wait until a sunny day, to see the red sunshine and white snow and ice meet in a beautiful way.

Expanded Information

Background of Creation:

In 1936, the Red Army organized the Eastern Expeditionary Forces to prepare for the eastward crossing of the Yellow River to fight against the Japanese. When the Red Army set out from Zichang County and advanced to the area of Yuanjiagou in Gaojie Village, Qingjian County, the troops rested and recuperated here for 16 days.During Mao Zedong's stay in the area from February 5 to 20, there was a heavy snowfall, with the Great Wall and beyond snow-covered, and the uplifted Qin-Jin Plateau frozen and snow-covered.

The weather was so bitterly cold that even the normally rushing and roaring Yellow River was covered with a thick layer of ice, losing its former waves. Mao Zedong was staying at the home of farmer Bai Zhimin late at night. Seeing this scene, he was quite touched and filled out this lyric. Qinyuanchun - Snow" was first published in November 14, 1945 Chongqing "New People's Newspaper Evening Magazine", and later officially published in "Poetry Magazine" January 1957 issue.

Appreciation of the main theme:

The first part of the word describes the magnificent snowy scenery in the north, which is ten million miles across, showing a majestic and open-minded mood, and expressing the lyricist's love for the magnificent mountains and rivers of the motherland. The next piece of discussion lyric, focusing on commenting on historical figures, glorifying contemporary heroes, expressing the proletariat to be the true master of the world's lofty aspirations.

The whole word is a melting pot of scenic, discursive and lyrical, with a magnificent mood, grandeur, exuberant feelings and boldness of mind, which is quite representative of Mao Zedong's bold style of poetry.
