The moon and the sun represent that Nepal is a Hindu country and that this country can continue with the sun and the moon. Moreover, Nepal has long used two national flags, the moon and the sun, and the triangle with a red background, and it was not until 1923 that it became one.

Nepal's national flag is the only triangular national flag and the only national flag larger than the horizontal national flag.
