What is Mid-Autumn Festival? Commonly known as Ghost Festival, July 30th, Buddhism is called Kasahara Festival. On the fifteenth day of the first month, Han people call it Shangyuan Festival to celebrate Yuanxiao, which has existed since ancient times. On July 15, the Han people called the Mid-Autumn Festival a festival to worship ancestors. 1October15th, the Han people call it the next yuan festival, which is a cold food to commemorate the sages.
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on July 15th of the lunar calendar, partly on July 14th. It used to be Xiaoqiu, and a batch of crops were ripe. As a rule, people should worship their ancestors, provide new rice and other sacrifices, and report the situation in Qiu Cheng to their ancestors. Therefore, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, every family pays homage to their ancestors. On July 15, I went to visit the grave to worship my ancestors. Taoism in the Eastern Han Dynasty set up three sessions and five cloudy days, among which July 7th was Delu, which was also the day when regular Taoist priests came to the hospital for examinations. The date of ancestor worship in July was later fixed on this day, and Taoism set the birthday of the emperor official of the Central Plains and the corresponding date of sacrifice on July 15.
Legend has it that all the ghosts were released to the underworld on that day, and people usually carry out activities to sacrifice ghosts. Anyone who has a new funeral will go to the new grave as an example, but generally sacrifice to ghosts and gods in the local area. Therefore, it is a festival centered on the whole worship of ghosts and one of the largest folk festivals in China.
Buddhist allusions
According to legend, Manglietia's mother did many bad things and became a hungry ghost after her death. She was very sad when she learned that, so she used her magic power to give her some food, but the food turned to ashes when it reached her mouth. Buddha Sakyamuni told him that she must gather the strength of all people and put them in a basin every July to support ten monks, so that her mother can help her, Mu Lian can act according to the wishes of the Buddha, and her mother can finally be freed. Later, this legend formed a folk custom and gradually evolved, from offering sacrifices to monks to offering sacrifices to ghosts. Every year in the middle of the seventh lunar month, people will kill chickens and ducks, burn incense and clothes, and worship the hungry ghosts who come out of the underworld to resolve grievances and avoid becoming a disaster for the world. Over time, there was the Orchid Festival.

Folk ancestor worship
Folk ancestor worship activities are generally held before July 15, and are not limited to a specific day. Through a certain ceremony, the people take the ghost of their ancestors home at night, and provide tea and rice three times a day until their return. When you send it back, burn the paper bag, which is called burning &; Ldquo coating &; Rdquo either has a ceremony (or Buddha or Tao). In some places (such as Hunan), Mid-Autumn Festival is more important than Tomb-Sweeping Day.
