Chemical composition leaves contain about 123 mg% of ascorbic acid, about 37 mg% of dehydroabietic acid, a small amount of vitamin B2, lotus glycoside, anisidine, kaempferol -3- arabinoside, kaempferol -3- glucuronide, quercetin -3- glucuronide, and cinnamic acid, ferulic acid and ferulic acid.
