Wang Xizhi's story of eating steamed bread with ink: Wang Xizhi always went to the state of forgetting himself when practicing calligraphy. Once, when eating, the rice was garlic paste and steamed bread, but while Wang Xizhi was practicing calligraphy while his eyes were still looking at the words, he mistakenly dipped the ink as garlic paste and ate it. As a result, my mouth was black.
Commemoration of later generations:
After Wang Xizhi was at odds with General Wang Shu, a title of generals in ancient times, he resigned due to illness and moved to Jinting, where he retired in his later years and was buried until his death. At present, Wang's heirs built a family temple in the Qing Dynasty-Jintingguan. On the right, there is a quaint stone workshop with the words "Wang Youjun's Tomb Road" engraved on its forehead. Chuanshifang goes up the valley, which is an ancient tomb road paved with dimly discernible pebbles, and at the end is Wang Xizhi's tomb.
Wang Xizhi's tomb itself is not large, and its format is similar to that of Xie 'an's tomb, and it is also surrounded by a mound of bluestone, similar to that of Yuefei's tomb in Hangzhou. There is a big tablet in front of the tomb, and the full text of Preface to Lanting is engraved. The tablet body is somewhat weathered and mottled, and the handwriting in many places is diffuse and can only be vaguely identified. However, the related cemetery is quite large, which is surprisingly large.
