Qu Yuan (about 340 BC-278 BC) was a poet and politician of Chu State in the Warring States Period. Born in Lepingli, the hometown of Chu State at the end of the Warring States Period (now Quyuan Village, Quyuan Township, Zigui County), he is a descendant of Qu Xian, the son of Xiong Tong.
In his early years, Qu Yuan was deeply trusted by Chu Huaiwang and advocated "American politics". He advocated using talents for internal development, perfecting statutes, and uniting external forces to resist Qin. Later, he was exiled because he was slandered by nobles. General Qin leitian attacked Ying, the capital of Chu, and sank in Miluo River.
