There are 56 ethnic minorities in China, namely Mongolian, Hui, Tibetan, Korean, Uygur, Miao, Zhuang, Manchu, Buyi, Dong, Yi, Yao, Bai, Tujia, Hani, Kazak, Dai, Li, Lisu, Wa, Gaoshan and She.

Jingpo, Kirgiz, Tu, Daur, Mulao, Qiang, Bulang, Salar, Maonan, Gelao, Xibe, Achang, Pumi, Tajik, Nu, Uzbek, Jing, Dulong, De 'ang and Baoan, etc.

The meaning of ethnic minorities

Ethnic minorities refer to ethnic groups other than the main ethnic groups in multi-ethnic countries, with a minority population. They can be aborigines or foreigners. Because of their proportion in the countries where they live and their distinctive customs, religions, languages and costumes, there are some provisions in international law to protect ethnic minorities.

In China, except the Han nationality, the other 55 legal ethnic groups are all ethnic minorities. After the founding of New China, in order to formulate and implement the equal rights of all ethnic groups, the government organized forces to distinguish ethnic names from ethnic groups and identified 56 ethnic groups.
