Different leaves, flowers, etc.
Ramie One of the important fiber crops in ancient China. Native to southwest China. Neolithic era, some places in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River has been planted. The earliest archaeological excavation is the Zhejiang Qanshanyang Neolithic site of ramie cloth and fine hemp rope, more than 4,700 years ago. China is a country with more varieties of Ramie and more wild species of the genus Ramie, and the history of Ramie cultivation in China is the longest, more than 4,700 years ago. Ramie is more adapted to temperate and subtropical climate.
Difference between Ramie and Flax
One, the leaves are different
Ramie leaves are alternate, the leaf blade is herbaceous, rounded-ovate or broadly ovate, rarely ovate, about 6 to 15 centimeters in length and 4 to 11 centimeters in width, with a cusp at the top of the leaf, and the base is close to a truncate or broadly cuneate. The top of the leaf is cuspidate, the base is nearly truncate or broadly cuneate, the margin is dentate above the base, the upper part of the leaf is slightly rough and sparsely covered with short voluminous hairs, and the underside of the leaf is covered with dense snow-white felted hairs.
The leaves of flax are alternate, with linear, linear-lanceolate or lanceolate blades, 2 to 4 centimeters long, 1 to 5 millimeters wide, acute at the apex, tapering to a narrower base, not petiolate, and the leaves are involute.
Two, the flowers are different
Ramie paniculate inflorescences are axillary, about 2 to 9 centimeters long, and the perianths of the male flowers are 4-parted, narrowly elliptic, and about 1.5 millimeters long.
Flax flowers are solitary at the top of the branches or in the upper leaf axils of the branches, forming sparse cymose inflorescences, the diameter of the flowers is 15 to 20 millimeters long, with five petals, obovate, blue or purple-blue in color, and vaguely white or red.
Three, made of fabric feel different
Linen fabric than ramie fabric feel better, relatively soft, skin-friendly better; and some ramie clothing, generally as a blended or fall and winter to wear outerwear, because direct contact with the skin will give rise to a feeling of discomfort.
Introduction of flax
Flax is an annual herbaceous plant, can be divided into fiber flax, oil flax and oil-fiber flax three types. Stem erect, up to 1.2 meters high, the upper part of the fine, waxy; leaves alternate, lanceolate, 20-40 mm long, 3 mm wide, the surface of the glaucous; flower petals 5, 15-25 mm in diameter, blue or white; the fruit is a capsule, the seeds flattened ovoid, preferring a cool and humid climate.
Linen is native to the Mediterranean region, Eurasian temperate zone are cultivated. Cultivated throughout China, northeast, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places. However, it is more common in the north and southwest.
The main origin of linen fiber: mainly in Europe and Asia. 1985 world cultivated area of 1.342 million hectares, total fiber production of 711,000 tons. The Soviet Union accounted for about 58%; followed by Poland, France, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Belgium, the Netherlands and so on. China in 1985 cultivated area of 65,000 hectares, total fiber production of 71,000 tons, mainly distributed in Heilongjiang, Jilin provinces.
