As an expectorant, "concha arcae" has the effects of resolving phlegm, removing blood stasis, softening hard mass, and relieving pain by making acid, and the effect of making acid and relieving pain is enhanced after calcination. Modern pharmacological research shows that calcium carbonate contained in it can neutralize gastric acid, reduce the stimulation of gastric acid on damaged gastric mucosa, and thus alleviate the symptoms of gastric acid reflux and stomachache. Academician Tong Xiaolin often uses 9 ~ 15g calcined concha arcae to make acid and relieve pain.
As an astringent, "cuttlebone" has the functions of fixing semen, stopping leukorrhagia, astringing and stopping bleeding, relieving acid and pain, eliminating dampness and healing sore, and has the function of repairing digestive tract mucosa. Pharmacological research shows that its acid-making effect is basically the same as that of calcined concha arcae, and the conchin contained in it can form a protective film on the damaged gastric mucosa, thus playing a role in repairing the digestive tract mucosa.
Calcined concha arcae and cuttlebone are both shellfish traditional Chinese medicines, so when treating acid regurgitation, they should be decocted first, and cuttlebone can also be taken orally after grinding.
Tips: Chinese medicine should be used under the guidance of clinicians.
