The turtle's mouth is swollen on both sides, that is, the position outside the ear, which may be:
1. At the initial stage of infection, the turtle's ears began to protrude slightly outward. In this case, surgery is generally not recommended, but medicine is taken to treat it, and cephalosporins are added to the turtle's food to treat it.
2. The great development stage of infection. At this time, the turtle's ears are generally red and swollen, and the progress of protruding outward becomes very fast. In this case, treatment is generally not recommended, but surgery is chosen after the otitis media problem stabilizes. If surgery is performed at this time, it is difficult to debride at one time, thus causing secondary infection and increasing the pain of soft-shelled turtle.
3. The mature and stable stage of infection. At this time, the turtle's ears are greatly protruding, but they have become hard or hard. This kind of situation can be directly treated by surgery, cross incision, as shown in the figure, or straight incision.
Surgical preparation:
Blades, cotton swabs, cotton (2), chloramphenicol eye drops (2), antibiotics (both cephalosporin capsules and amoxicillin), physiological saline and Yunnan Baiyao, iodine and chlortetracycline eye ointment (1).
Surgical operation: disinfect the surgical site with iodine, cut the affected area with a blade, remove most of the pus with a cotton swab, and clean it with plenty of normal saline.
If there is a lot of bleeding, Yunnan Baiyao should be used to stop the bleeding. Then there are two common ways to protect the affected areas:
First, soak cotton with chloramphenicol eye drops, stuff it into the affected area, and cover it with eye ointment. Take it out after 2~3 days.
Second, sprinkle the powder in the capsule on the wound and then cover it with eye ointment. 2~3 days after taking out the filled medicine, open the wound and wait for healing.
