Perillaceae, Panicum miliaceum. The stem is 0.3-2 meters high, green or purple, obtuse quadrangular, with four grooves and densely villous. The leaves are ovate or round in width, 7-13cm long and 4.5-10cm wide, with short or sharp apex and 7-8 pairs of lateral veins.
Slightly near the lower part, obliquely ascending; Petiole is 3-5 cm long, with flat dorsal abdomen and densely villous. 2-flowered cymes, forming terminal and axillary racemes, long 1.5- 15 cm, densely villous, leaning to one side.
Growing habits:
China, Bhutan, India, zhina, Indonesia (Java), Japan and Korea. Widely cultivated in all parts of China. Perilla frutescens has strong adaptability and lax requirements on soil. It can grow well on sandy loam, loam and clay with good drainage, and the suitable soil pH value is 6.0-6.5. It is resistant to high temperature, and the optimum growth temperature is 25℃.
In northern China and Zhejiang, the seeds are usually sown in early April, planted in mid-April, transplanted in mid-May, budding in late August, flowering and fruiting in mid-September, and seeds mature in mid-June. The whole growth period is about 190 days.
