The Spring Festival is one of the oldest traditional festivals in China. There are many customs about the Spring Festival, such as posting Spring Festival couplets, wearing new clothes, paying New Year greetings and giving lucky money ... But what about the origin of the Spring Festival?
According to legend, in ancient times, there was a monster called Nian. Every Spring Festival, it crawled ashore from the sea and ate many children. People have figured out the day when Nian climbed out of the sea to hurt people. Whenever this day, people went to the cave to take refuge together. An old woman was unable to walk, so she had to stay at home. A travel-stained guest came to her home and said, "I will definitely drive Nian away, so you can take refuge in the mountains." Grandma went up the mountain with a grain of salt.
When I went ashore in, I saw only one person. The guest set off firecrackers. In, I heard the sound, put my hand over my ear and lay on the ground. In, I saw the red couplets running into the sea and never came out again.
When people return to the village, it is presumed that that person has been eaten by Nian. However, contrary to people's expectations, the guest was not eaten by Nian, but also scared Nian into not hurting people again.
From then on, people set off firecrackers and put up Spring Festival couplets during the Spring Festival, and there was no such thing as hurting people in the New Year. Everyone lived happily.
This is the origin of the Spring Festival. Whether it is true or not, this traditional China festival is a good traditional culture of China.
