Introduction to Avalokitesvara

Avalokitesvara is a plant of the Araceae family and the Alocasia genus. There are fleshy tubers in the ground. Its leaves are arrow-shaped and shield-shaped, and the underside of the leaves is purple. Flowers are drawn from the stem end. Although this plant has ornamental value, it is poisonous, so contact it as little as possible.

Guanyin lotus cultivation method

1. Soil

Guanyin lotus has wide adaptability to soil, but is suitable for fertile and loose sandy loam, and can be mixed with humus. Colonial soil, coarse sand, vermiculite, and a small amount of plant ash and bone meal can be added as base fertilizer.

2. Temperature

Guanyin lotus likes a warm, humid and semi-shady growing environment. The suitable growing temperature is between 20-30 degrees, and the temperature in winter should not be lower than 15 degrees. If the ambient temperature is low, it will cause freezing damage and needs to be moved indoors for maintenance before winter.

3. Sunshine

Guanyin lotus is suitable for growing in shade and scattered light, and is intolerant of direct and strong light. Generally, shade is required in summer and autumn, otherwise the leaves will turn white and sometimes sun spots will appear, but more sunlight is needed in winter.

4. Water and fertilizer

Guanyin lotus likes a humid environment, but is not tolerant of stagnant water. Watering should be done without watering, but thoroughly. Spring and autumn are the main growth periods, which require frequent watering and timely fertilization. Summer and winter are the dormant periods. Control watering and stop fertilizing.

5. Fertilization

Guanyin lotus does not require much fertilizer, so fertilize it once every 20 days during the growing season. When fertilizing, do not splash the fertilizer on the leaves. Stop fertilizing when the temperature is high in summer and low in winter.

6. Pruning

Guanyin lotus is a better pruning plant. Generally, only 4-6 leaves need to be retained. You can use sharp scissors to cut off the petioles near the trunk.

Guanyin lotus is not resistant to heavy fertilizers. Apply thin fertilizer every half month during the growing season, and the concentration must be low.
