1, variety characteristics
Weidi Plum is introduced from California, USA, and belongs to the early-maturing hybrid variety of apricot and plum series. Among them, the gene of plum accounts for 75%, and the gene of apricot accounts for 25%. It tastes sweet, unique and refreshing, accompanied by aroma and high quality. Most of them are cross-pollinated, and the self-pollination rate is low. The same series of flavor roses can be selected as pollination trees for breeding.
2. Fruit characteristics
The fruit skin of Weidi plum has a thin layer of fruit powder, which turns blue when it is eight ripe, and the outer skin is light purple with reddish spots after it is fully ripe in May and June. The weight of a single fruit is between 60 ~150g, the pulp is red, the sugar content is as high as 20%, and the fruit is hard and can be stored for two weeks in natural state and three months at low temperature.
3. Planting time
The best planting time of Weidi plum is10 ~1month in autumn, which is conducive to the germination of leaf buds and accelerated rooting in the next spring. In extremely cold Xinjiang and other areas, it should be carried out after the snow and ice melt to prevent frostbite. In the first year after planting, it is necessary to fix the stem when it grows to 80cm, and when it grows to more than 30cm, all the auxiliary buds in the lower half should be cut off.
Step 4: Trim branches
Weidi plum seedlings have strong adaptability, and have certain drought and barren tolerance. During the growth period, the trees are strong, the shape is outward, and the branches are lush, so they need to be pruned regularly. Cut off the weak branches from the roots of miscellaneous parts, and cut off the long branches from half or one third to reduce the consumption of nutrients.
