Appreciation:
"Caiwei" is one of the Xiao Ya of the Classic of Poetry. Annotators through the ages have given different accounts of the date of its writing. However, according to its content and other historical records, it is more likely that it was written during the reign of King Xuan of Zhou. During the Zhou Dynasty, the long-snout tribe (later known as Xiong Nu) in the north was already very strong and often invaded the Central Plains, bringing a lot of disasters to the lives of the people in the north at that time.
There are many records in history of the Zhou Emperor sending troops to guard the borders and ordering soldiers to defeat the long-snout tribe. Judging from the content of Caiwei, it was written when the generals were returning from their military service. The poem sings of the hard life of the soldiers and their longing to return home.
The poem is divided into six chapters, the first three chapters of the superposition, to pick Wei rising to write Wei by the work and soft and just, and the soldiers far away from home, never return, homesickness, worry!
