Matters needing attention in eating purple shell clam
Case of mussel poisoning discovered in Japan: 1 May/March/Day, Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun said that a couple had been poisoned by eating mussels by mistake on the moistureproof embankment in Nangang, Juzhijiang District, Osaka City. The couple's poisoning symptoms are relatively mild. When investigating food residues in Osaka, shellfish poisoning equivalent to 33~66 times of the national standard value was detected. Shellfish such as mussels can't eliminate shellfish poisoning even if they are heated, and the local government calls for more attention. Relevant experts specially reminded that in order to prevent shellfish poisoning, it is necessary to remove the internal organs of shellfish before cooking, avoid eating cooking juice and eat less shellfish every time.
