"Matchbox Since then, Matchbox Twenty has been touring to sold-out venues.
In early 1998, they performed a concert at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom for MTV's Live At The Ten Sporthaisl program, and the entire United States was treated to their powerful vocals and songs. The next step was to take their music around the world, and after a well-received promotional tour of Europe, the group embarked on their first tour of Australia, where they found themselves in a sell-out crowd at all of their shows, including five shows in Sydney. The Australian tour was filmed and edited as "Matchbox Twenty Live From Autralia", the group's first live concert video.
In 1999, Rob supported Santana's comeback with their debut single Smooth, which not only created a new career peak for the two musicians, but also became a legend in the music industry, and their second album Mad Season, released in the new millennium, was the first to reach the top spot on Billboard's Pop Singles Chart, making it the group's first mainstream album. The first wave of their second album "Mad Season" topped the Billboard Pop Singles Chart, becoming their first mainstream album, and If You Gone was awarded "Best Pop Song of the Year" by the National Lyric Association, with sales of the two albums exceeding 20 million worldwide!
