When I was a child, Chinese New Year was basically associated with "eating". One or two months in advance, the family began to prepare for the New Year. Bacon tastes include bacon, preserved pig's ears, preserved pig's tongue and so on, as well as sausages that must be made every year. They are all bought with pork and taken to a place where sausages are specially filled. I remember there are two flavors: one is Cantonese sausage, which is sweet, and the other is Sichuan sausage, which is spicy. When finished, you should take it home and hang it on the balcony, so that as the Spring Festival approaches, you can see these things hanging on the balconies of every household in Sichuan more or less.
2. Ba Huang
Besides bacon sausages, our family will also make Ba Huang. My grandmother was still there when I was a child, and I basically survived. When she finishes, she will give some to each family. Grandma's Ba Huang is super big, with small pieces of fat in it. It is called "Ba Huang rich in oil" and tastes delicious. I use old brown sugar and glutinous rice, and I especially like to eat glutinous and sweet things. They are delicious.
3. New Year's Eve is a family gathering around an old hot pot.
On New Year's Eve, most of us will get together at grandma's house. We have New Year's Eve dinner from afternoon to evening. Traditionally, it is an old hot pot, which is very similar to old Beijing instant-boiled mutton. Heat the honeycomb briquette in the middle and hot pot on the side. But the bottom of this old hot pot is clear soup, boiled pork bone soup or chicken soup, which is equivalent to a large pot of stewed glutinous trotters or stewed chicken, and then there are classics every year: tofu balls, taro, thousands of pieces. What about the dishes on the table? Mostly bacon and sausage slices. This is the taste in my memory. Everyone around this hot pot is warm and satisfied.
When the children of our generation grow up, it seems that they don't like the old hot pot with clear soup bottom, and those classic "Chinese New Year dishes" are gradually replaced by others. In recent years, our family has changed to the bottom of a pot with red soup and butter, and the dishes have also changed to hairy belly and yellow throat, lunch meat, fish balls, yellow diced peppers and so on. Of course, the dishes on the dining table have gradually changed: sausages and bacon are no longer the mainstay, but chickens, ducks and fish, and many vegetables have been added. In fact, I eat a lot more now than before, but I don't know why, that is, the taste of the year is much less, maybe because I grew up, or maybe because I have a good life now and can eat everything.
4. Tangyuan
I think a friend from the north replied that he would wrap coins in jiaozi, and it would be good luck to eat them. We will have a similar custom, just using glutinous rice balls. Moreover, it is eaten on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, and there are "surprises" in some jiaozi. After cooking, everyone carries a bowl. This is also the happiest and most exciting part of Chinese New Year. Finally, we will count how much money everyone has eaten. Eat more, you will be rich next year, and your life will be smooth ~
