The main pathological change of diarrhea in AIDS patients is the intestine. Common pathogens are bacteria, protozoa, viruses, fungi and so on. Among them, protozoa (mainly cryptosporidium) infection accounts for about 40% of the total AIDS diarrhea, mostly acute diarrhea, which is characterized by a large number of watery diarrhea and fatty diarrhea, with or without abdominal pain, more than 0/0 times a day, and the amount is mostly several liters. Other patients have recurrent intermittent diarrhea, which does not last for months or years, and the frequency of defecation is more than 5-6 times a day. Patients often have water and electrolyte disorders, acidosis, weight loss, emaciation, severe malnutrition, hypoproteinemia and so on. And patients often die of severe failure.
Characteristics of AIDS diarrhea:
1. The frequency of defecation is obviously higher than usual. Feces are thin and water is increased. Daily defecation exceeds 200g, or contains undigested food or pus and mucus. Diarrhea is often accompanied by urgent defecation, anal discomfort, incontinence and other symptoms.
2, AIDS diarrhea is divided into acute and chronic two categories. Acute diarrhea occurs rapidly, and the course of disease is within 2 ~ 3 weeks. Chronic diarrhea refers to recurrent diarrhea with a course of more than two months or an intermittent period of 2-4 weeks.
3. The drug treatment effect of diarrhea in AIDS window period is not obvious, which generally lasts 1-2 weeks. Aids diarrhea should find the cause and prescribe the right medicine, otherwise it will be life-threatening.
4. In addition to diarrhea, it is often accompanied by emaciation, anorexia, fever, nausea, abdominal pain or dysphagia.
The probability of AIDS diarrhea can reach 50-90%, and the characteristics of the disease are prolonged (several months), watery stool, up to 10 times a day, and emaciation of patients. Aids diarrhea can lead to the death of infected people. Although it is not a fatal infection, it cannot be ignored. Aids patients can be more emaciated and malnourished because of diarrhea, so the symptoms of diarrhea can be cured quickly, and antiviral treatment for AIDS can make the infected people return to normal.
