Applications
1. Insomnia and dreaming, palpitation and anxiety, forgetfulness.

Usage and dosage: Decoction, 3 to 9 g. Appropriate amount for external use. To dissolve phlegm and relieve cough, it should be used in hot.

1. Chemical composition: this product contains saponin, hydrolyzed can be divided into farnesosaponin A and farnesosaponin B. It also contains farnesoquinone, alkaloids, sugar and glycosides, farnesol, fine-leafed farnesoid alkaloids, fatty oils, resins and so on.
2. Pharmacological effects: the whole farnesol has sedative, hypnotic and anticonvulsant effects. The saponin has expectorant, antitussive, antihypertensive effect; decoction of rats and mice isolated from the non-pregnant and pregnant uterus have excitatory effect; ethanol infusion of Gram-positive bacteria and dysentery bacilli, typhoid bacilli, human tuberculosis bacilli in vitro have obvious inhibitory effect; its decoction and water-soluble extracts have anti-aging, anti-mutagenic and anti-cancer, etc.; saponins of Polygonum have haemolytic effect.
