Alaskan Malamute is one of the oldest Malamute dogs. Its name comes from a tribe of Inuit Eskimos called Malamut, who live on the coast of Coetzee in western Alaska. Before Alaska became a part of American territory, this area was called Alashak or Aleska, which translated as "vast land" and was named by the Russians who discovered this area. This kind of dog is different from other breeds in Alaska, with strong limbs. It is cultivated for endurance rather than speed, so its main purpose is to pull sleds.
