Can litchi be poisoned if you eat too much?
Litchi contains two kinds of "toxins", α-methylene cyclopropyl glycine (MCPG) and amino acid glycine A, which can inhibit the synthesis of glucose, and then significantly reduce blood sugar, causing acute hypoglycemia, which is often called "litchi disease" and can be fatal. However, these two toxins mainly exist in litchi seed, and the content in pulp is relatively low.
