What is the growth habit of Aconitum?
Growth habit of Radix Aconiti Lateralis (bird head): Radix Aconiti Lateralis is a perennial herb of Ranunculaceae. It is a perennial plant with fleshy tuberous roots, spindle-shaped or obovate, and usually two are connected. The lateral roots of cultivated species are thick and have fine roots at the lower part. The stem is erect, with a height of 50 ~ 150 cm and a flowering period of 9 ~ 1 1 month. I like sunny, warm and humid climate, and require sandy loam with deep soil layer, fertile and loose soil and good irrigation and drainage.

Commercial aconite is planted in the main producing area at an altitude of 500m, with an annual average temperature of 16.4℃ and a frost-free period of 270d d. However, the propagation seeds are planted in mountainous areas at an altitude of1000 m. If the seeds are planted in low-altitude areas, the varieties will deteriorate in 1 ~ 2 years.

Aconitum forbade continuous cropping. The previous crops were rice, corn and sugarcane, and rice and corn were better. It takes more than 6 years of crop rotation (rice or corn) to plant Aconitum on the land where Aconitum has been planted.

Aconitum is mainly propagated asexually (root tuber) and often intercropped with corn, which can block the direct sunlight and reduce the ground temperature.
