Korean pine is extremely cold-resistant, and there is no freezing injury at the low temperature of MINUS 50 degrees in Xiaoxing' anling forest area in winter. Korean pine likes moist, deep, fertile soil with good drainage and ventilation.
Korean pine is strict with soil moisture, sensitive to soil drainage and ventilation, and intolerant to moisture, drought and saline-alkali. Fruit pine likes light, but it is resistant to shade when it is young. Korean pine is a shallow-rooted tree species with underdeveloped main roots and developed lateral roots. The growth of Korean pine is slow in the early stage, and the growth rate is obviously accelerated in the later stage, and it can maintain a large growth in a certain period of time. The timber accumulation is very high. The timber volume of natural Korean pine forest in 200 years can reach 700 cubic meters per hectare, and that of artificial pine forest in 29 years can reach 129 cubic meters.
