Peas are divided into two categories according to the use:
1. Grain peas: purple flowers also have red or gray-blue, stipules, leaf axils, bean poles and petioles are purplish-red, the seeds are dark gray or mottled, so it is also known as "hemp peas", as a grain and starch, often cultivated as a field crop.
2. Vegetable peas: flowers are often white, stipules, leaf axils without purplish red, seeds are white, yellow, green, pink or other light color. Fruit pods have soft pods and hard pods of two kinds, soft pods species of the fruit is edible when young, hard pods species of the tough skin, to young seeds for food, and young pods are not for food.
