There are many varieties of broad beans cultivated and utilized in various parts of China, both local original varieties and improved varieties introduced from abroad. The varieties with good quality and the highest utilization value are as follows.

(1) Early-maturing type: mainly including local varieties in southern provinces of China. Generally, the plant height is 60 ~ 80 cm, the whole growth period is about 130 ~ 140 d, and the 1000-grain weight is between 400 ~ 700g, but there are few branches and small leaves. As early-maturing varieties, there are mainly excellent varieties such as Xingning Mung Bean, Guangcheng No.2, Putian Fenghua, Chenggong Broad Bean, Sichuan Mung Bean, Guang 'anhong, Tianmen Mung Bean, Zhuxiangdou and March Yellow.

(2) Late-maturing type: mainly including some varieties from northwest, north and east China and imported varieties from abroad. Generally, the plant height is above 120cm, and the whole growth period is above 150d. The 1000-seed weight is greater than 1000 ~ 1300 g, and the yield of seeds and stems and leaves is high. The main fine varieties are croton, Maya, Xi 'an Mi Dou, Linxia 204, Lhasa 1, England 175, England 176, French broad beans, New Zealand broad beans, Japanese broad beans and Soviet feed broad beans.
