Cabbage biennial herb, 40-60 cm tall, often glabrous throughout the plant, sometimes with a few prickly hairs on the midrib below the leaves. Basal leaves numerous, large, obovate-oblong to broadly obovate, 30-60 cm long, less than half as wide, rounded at the tip, margins wrinkled, undulate, sometimes with inconspicuous teeth, midvein white, very broad, with a majority of stout lateral veins; petiole white, flattened, 5-9 cm long, 2-8 cm wide, margins with notched, broadly thin wings.
