Cage cage culture of freshwater shrimp is currently a promising farming method. The cage is the carrier for cultivating fresh shrimp. To raise fresh shrimp well, it is necessary to design and manufacture the cage well.
(1) Cage area
The cage is usually made into a rectangular shape. There are three commonly used cage areas: one is a large cage, with each port 60 to 70m2 (10 meters × 6.67 meters); one is a medium-sized cage, each port is about 30 meters (7 meters × 4.5 meters); the other is a small cage, each port is about 15 meters (5 meters × 3 meters). The box is 1.3 to 1.5 meters high, usually sinks 0.9 to 1 meter underwater, and remains 0.4 to 0.6 meters above the water (mainly used to prevent freshwater shrimps from jumping away). (2) Mesh size
The materials used to make the cage must be strong, durable, cheap, high-quality, and conveniently sourced. At present, polyethylene mesh is mainly used, which is cut and sewn. The mesh is preferably 24 mesh, which will prevent shrimps from escaping and facilitate water exchange and feeding management. (3) Form and installation of cages
At present, there are four main forms of cages, namely fixed cages, floating cages, sunken cages and lifting cages. From the top of the cage, there are open cages and closed cages. At present, fixed open cages are mainly used to raise freshwater shrimps. (4) Installation of cages
Usually, a large moso bamboo is used to make a rectangular frame as the float, or a plastic bucket can be used as the float, and bamboo piles or cement piles are used for fixed support. Install an iron ring on each of the four corner posts and add pulleys to fix the cage on the posts. The mesh of the cage is opened through the rope, and the cage is immersed in water for 0.9 to 1 meter, and is adjusted with the rise and fall of the water level through pulleys. The cages can be set up individually or collectively. Centrally set up, generally 5 to 6 cages are arranged in a row, two rows are a cage breeding group, and a springboard is added in the middle for operation and management. The distance between boxes is 4 to 5 meters, and the distance between rows is 5 to 6 meters.
