How to transport lobsters?
1. Choose a robust and harmless lobster.

Handle live lobsters transported from fishing boats or farms carefully before transporting them. That is to say, carefully remove the captured lobster from the fishing net, separate the weak and injured from the strong and uninjured, and then put the strong and uninjured lobster into the window or the pond with fresh flowing seawater. After being transported to the shore, it is best to store it in the sink for at least 24 hours, so as to observe it carefully and select strong lobsters to be airlifted again, which is the basis for ensuring the survival rate of transportation.

2. Keep a certain humidity and temperature.

When packing lobsters, it is very important to control humidity. The relative humidity of 70%- 100% can prevent lobster from dehydration and reduce the mortality during transportation. When transporting lobsters, the water temperature should be controlled at 1-7℃, which can make lobsters dormant, reduce oxygen consumption, avoid collision and improve the survival rate of transportation. If the temperature of lobster is above 7℃ and the relative humidity is below 70%, it will survive for no more than one day at most.

3. Selection of transport containers

Air transport must choose the right container. Lobster containers must be insulated, watertight, light and portable, and their size and weight should meet the requirements of air transportation. Can withstand external pressure, physical damage without deformation, but also suitable for air transport of any perishable goods. At present, containers made of foamed plastics, polyethylene, waxed fiberboard or corrugated cardboard can be used for air transportation.

4. Choose a good airplane model

It is best to use B-707 cargo plane or wide-body jet plane (B-747, L-101,DC- 10). Their engine room can hold "structural containers", which can hold about 3 150-9000 kilograms of goods. First, put the live lobster into the watertight container mentioned above, and then put it into this container. Using containers can save freight. Small containers don't need to be strong in containers, because they have the protection of large outer containers. In addition, there is heat preservation equipment in the engine room, which is beneficial to the transportation of seafood.

5. Selection of filling materials

Packaging materials are also very important when packaging, because it helps to prevent live lobsters from being hurt during transportation. There are many kinds of commonly used filling materials, such as burlap, broken foam or sawdust.

6. Precautions before transportation

Before transportation, it should be noted that lobsters are easy to die after leaving seawater and can only be packaged before shipment. According to the experience, lobster can survive for 1-3 days under the conditions of proper handling, normal packaging and transportation, according to the ambient temperature and the operation from fishing to loading. In areas with high temperature, it is best to pack lobsters in cold storage, and the packed lobsters should be transported to the airport by refrigerated trucks. If there is no low-temperature greenhouse in the airport, the packaged lobster should be put in the refrigerated truck as far as possible before being shipped on the plane. However, it should be noted that under no circumstances should the temperature be lowered to 0℃ or below. We should choose airlines with reliable service quality, and ensure that airlines can take off first in case of unexpected situations such as delays. Goods mainly keep in touch with airlines, so as to master and implement the specific transportation process, realize non-stop transportation as much as possible, and get priority when being released by customs.

7. Problems that should be paid attention to after arriving at the destination

After arriving at the destination, the lobster should be inspected immediately, and the dead and weak ones should be picked out and dealt with in time. Lobsters in good condition should be immediately put into a prepared tank with circulating frozen seawater.
