In the past, aquaculture in Taiwan Province Province mainly relied on fish ponds (brackish water) excavated in coastal wetlands. Therefore, since the 1960s, the government began to promote box-net culture in shallow seas, that is, the ocean was regarded as pasture, and aquatic organisms were directly stocked in the net at sea and fed with artificial feed. At present, Penghu and Little Ryukyu, which have bays, are the most abundant areas, and the cultured fish species include sea bream, black snapper, grouper, king fish, tuna and other marine fish. Jellyfish has become the new favorite of 1997 box net culture because of its rapid growth, strong vitality, good meat quality and huge size. Coupled with the fine feed, its meat quality becomes more delicious, and it is even called "Toro (Black Tuna) in Taiwan Province Province". Therefore, this kind of fish commonly known as "sea fish" by fishermen has become the main material of sashimi nowadays.
