This is a poem written by Su Shi, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, in The Evening Scene of the Spring River in Hui Chong.

The meaning is as follows: Two or three peach blossoms are blooming outside the bamboo forest, and ducks are swimming in the water. They are the first to notice the warming of the river in early spring. The beach is full of Artemisia selengensis, even the reeds are beginning to sprout, and the puffer fish is about to swim back to the river from the sea.

The first sentence of the poem is "There are three or two peach blossoms outside the bamboo". Looking through the scattered bamboo, several peach blossoms are swaying. Peach and bamboo contrast, red and green, and spring is particularly attractive. Although this is just a simple sentence, it reveals a lot of information. First of all, it shows that the bamboo forest is sparse. If it is fine, you can't see peach blossoms. Secondly, it shows the season and points out the word "early". Just after the cold spring, it is not the time when peach blossoms are in full bloom, but the infinite vitality and potential of spring have been revealed.

In the second sentence of the poem, "Duck Prophet of Spring River Plumbing", the vision is from far to near, that is, from the river bank to the river surface. Spring water is rippling on the river, and active ducks are playing in the river. The profile of "Duck Prophet" shows that the spring water is still slightly chilly, so other animals are not sensitive to the coming of spring, which echoes the peach blossom "three or two branches" in the first sentence, indicating the early spring season.

Three or four sentences in the poem: "Artemisia selengensis is full of short reed buds, which is the time when puffer fish want to go to the sea." These two sentences are still closely related to "early spring". The Artemisia selengensis and short reed buds are yellow and green, gorgeous and charming, showing a scene of spring and prosperity. "The puffer fish wants to go up" further highlights the word "spring" by taking advantage of the characteristic that the puffer fish only goes upstream when the spring river is warming up.
