According to US reports, the US Environmental Working Group ( EWG) recently tested 45 oat products and found the potentially hazardous herbicide ingredient glyphosate in 43 samples, with glyphosate exceeding the limit in 31 of the oat products.
The organization noted that 75 percent of the oatmeal products contained glyphosate at levels exceeding the safe daily intake for children. Among them were well-known brands such as Quaker and Kellogg's, with Quaker oatmeal products testing the highest for glyphosate.
The EWG said the daily exposure standard for glyphosate in children's food should be no more than 160 ppb, and it was the Quaker Oats product that had the most serious results.
The data showed that Quaker Old Fashioned Oats had the highest level of glyphosate, with an average of 930 ppb, while Quaker Dinosaur Egg Brown Sugar Instant Oats and Quaker Oats Granola had an average of 700 ppb and 415 ppb, respectively, which means that even if only 27.5 grams of the Quaker Oats products in question were consumed each day, they would still be potentially harmful to children.
