The average life span of platelets in normal people is 7- 1 1 day, while that in ITP patients is only 40-230 minutes. Because the spleen contains a large number of macrophages, which can produce high concentration of anti-platelet antibodies, and the slow blood flow can stop the platelets coated with antibodies, the spleen has become the main place for platelet destruction. The liver and bone marrow are also the places where platelets are destroyed. Chronic ITP platelet destruction is caused by the combination of antiplatelet antibodies and their related antigens and the phagocytosis of macrophages. Acute ITP platelet destruction is due to the virus antigen adsorbed on the platelet surface and combined with the corresponding antiviral antibody, which leads to platelet destruction.
So basically there is no platelet for an hour.
